Have a Listen!

December 30, 2008

I’ve been listening to a bit of Radiohead recently. I really like their Ok Computer album. Well, it is known as one of the best albums ever written! My favourite band is Muse, and a lot of people say that Muse’s and Radiohead’s music is similar, but I don’t see it.

I got Kings Of Leon’s new album for Christmas, and it’s pretty good. I got Hullabaloo by Muse too which is absolutely awesome! My sister got Stereophonics so I might steal that later, i’ve seen them live!

I wanna listen to a new range of music. I listen to Muse like non stop and want to get into some other stuff for a bit of variation.

I hope christmas was good for everyone, I had a great time seeing my family and friends. I bought a Muse calender off play.com yesterday. It’s an unofficial one because Muse don’t have one themselves. That’s crazy, they’d make a bomb on it! Anyway it looks a good one. Theres another one but I prefer this one as it has better photos in it.

Cor, what a movie! Sure, it probably won’t win an Oscar, but it’s full of action scenes and definitely is a mans movie. Such a great flick. I’ve been watching a lot of movies lately, i’ve seen Zack And Miri Make A Porno, which is pretty funny in places, terribly rude, but a good watch, although not Seth Rogen’s best. I watched Lakeview Terrace the other day, which is surprisingly remarkable. I won’t give away what happens but its worth a watch. Another film i’ve seen recently is The Day The Earth Stood Still, which, despite some good acting from Keanu Reeves, who deserves a big movie every once in a while, nothing much happened and it was quite disappointing in that respect.

Anyway, it’s almost christmas again!

Merry Christmas Everyone and a Happy New Year!

Wanted

November 21, 2008

I watched this movie for the second time today on DVD. I watched it first when it came out at the cinema. What I love about it is it always raises my spirits, it’s just so cool! I can be down and it will just make me feel better about everything, and really makes me stop wallowing in pity. I haven’t had a good week with problems at work (not my problems but it gets you down just the same) and problems with other people. But after a watching Wanted you just thing, who cares? Just get on with it. I’d seriously recommend watching this movie, it’s very good!

Am I Illiterate?

November 19, 2008

Well… obviously not, but just hear me out.

So usually i’m quite an able person, i’m pretty brainy, good at most stuff that involves using my head, except, when I sit down in front of an essay I can’t for the life of me write anything. It’s like I just sit there. Often I never get round to writing it, I just put it off, but a lot of the time I can just sit in front of an essay for literally an hour and get the best part of four lines written. I mean don’t get me wrong, I can write perfectly fine for anything that doesn’t involve the whole essay process.

It’s really starting to annoy me now though, I failed two years of 6th form because I couldn’t articulate a single assignment. None of the teachers quite understood what was going on – I was one of the brainy kids for christs sake! I know what you’re probably thinking, ‘How can he be brainy if he can’t write an essay?’ I’ve never been able to write them. When I was 10 I wrote a poem at my school which was published in a book. I used to read like a ruddy trooper when I was younger, and now, to be honest, I can’t even read. Well I can read, I just can’t initiate it if you know what I mean.

I wrote for The Heroes Chronicles for a year entirely single-handedly. Must’ve have written the good part of half a million words, so why can’t I write a single essay?!

Well there you go, a strange insight into my life. You probably didn’t understand a single thing I said.

Equilibrium

October 11, 2008

I remember when Equilibrium came out in the cinemas. It had Christian Bale in it, someone I didn’t know at the time, being 12 I wasn’t one to have seen American Psycho! Anyway, at the time I remember seeing a trailer on a video tape, they used to always have trailers at the start of videos, as most of you probably remember.

When I first saw the trailer I thought it looked a bit too similar to the matrix, with all the flashy gunfights, but the other day I managed to watch it, and I was pleasantly surprised. There have been many unknown film gems in the past few years, and I thought that this was one of those films. It was quite a good film, although it ended very strangely. It’s about the future of mankind, quite an extreme look at the world and the government which presides over it. Make sure you give it a watch, from what I hear the film wasn’t given that much in terms of advertising, and at the time the reviews weren’t too good. But really, out of the crap that is churned out nowadays and this movie, i’d go for Equilibrium!

Free Tickets!

October 4, 2008

I’ve gotten some free advanced tickets to movies, I have some tickets to The Rocker and Ghost Town. Pretty cool huh?

There’s this website that I joined that send me promotional codes for advanced tickets. Beats paying £6.60 or something stupid.

I’m also getting a Grolsch glass sent to me, pretty nice eh? I searched my name in Google without a space between the first and last name, I got loads of stuff come up about me! How crazy, I should keep myself mysterious really. An old blog on Vox came up, it was like a social blogging site I was once on. I’d post a couple of blogs a day, which is something I should really do on here, but I suppose a wordpress blog is rather lonesome from time to time. I also found a few videos that I once made and put on the net. Like Enemy Down movie, how class!

Gigs and a little trivia…

September 26, 2008

I’ve been reading some of my posts (i’m the only one) and I noticed in this one that I was hoping to get a new guitar. Well I got one in the end, and it’s a rather strange story. So I basically said I used to be in love with this guitar called the Fender Toronado GT HH. It was a dream of mine since I was about 14, when I started playing electric guitar. It was just so beautiful, it has this racer stripe down the middle which is really nice, amongst being fitted with two seymour duncan pick-ups (badass).

Well unfortunately they went out of production, no-one had ever heard of them compared to strats. It was a huge shame, because the time I finally want to get one, they’re gone, completely! As you know I contacted Fender, they had none. All the internet shops had sold out, and they don’t appear on ebay that often.

Anyway, a couple of months ago I get a picture message from one of my band mates, and it’s a picture of a Fender Toronado GT HH in a music shop that is near mine! What are the chances? A guitar that’s been my dream for years goes out of production and then amazingly one turns up in my local music shop! Anyways, I got it for my birthday, and this thing is amazing. I paired it with a Zoom G2.1u guitar pedal, and it’s so nice! I’m glad I bought it.

That brings me round to one last thing. Gigs. I’m going to see Funeral For A Friend in November or something, I think. My gym friend is going to be in the army so he gave me his ticket. And there will be another gig too, my bands. Our first gig hopefully we will be able to book one and play soon. It’s going to be great! Providing we can get some more decent songs out.

That is all for today, later.

What’s been happening.

September 20, 2008

A lot has been happening since I last wrote here. I got a laptop about 3 weeks ago, a nice replacement for my computer that has been rapidly degrading. I started playing Counter Strike again, not as much as I used to, no way. Just the odd 30 minutes here and there. I’m nowhere near as good as I used to be, but that doesn’t bother me anymore.

I’ve started College. I do a day a week out of work, it’s a really tough day. The lessons are from 8:45 in the morning until 8pm at night! It’s a really tough course so I can’t afford to miss any of it.

I’ve gotten a girlfriend. We’ve been going out for about a week, and it’s going rather well.

Finishing up with my driving. I’ve got my second test next month and i’m sure i’ll pass this one. I could’ve passed my previous one if only I had gotten my nerves under control.

Other than that, I have nothing else to say! Later.

V Festival!

August 24, 2008

Was amazing! Strangely contrary to tradition I didn’t drink a huge amount. But it was really just a great weekend. We saw loads of great bands. Muse were absolutely amazing, they’re the most brilliant band ever!

I got a photograph with Maggot from Goldie Lookin’ Chain and Ian Watkins from Lostprophets. How cool is that?! Got lots of good pictures of Muse too. On the first day we were at the front for 5 hours and we got rather crushed, haha. We were a reasonable distance from Muse to get plenty of great pictures! I’m glad I saw them too, they don’t have any new gigs for a while.

On another note, i’m not really psyched to see Oasis in October, I really want to go!

The Gym

August 4, 2008

After a 6 month period of inactivity, i’ve started going to the gym again. I’m there most of the time, I don’t do anything in the evenings so I just go there to either work out or go in the pool. A friend of mine is training to be in the army and he goes with me so he always keeps my on my toes. I’ve actually started to notice some improvement in myself, amongst other things my heart rate is lower now when I run. It was around 135-140 when I started, now I sit at about 119.

I’m there on occasion for 5 days a week, i’m feeling fitter which is nice.
